Yesomi Umolu

Exhibitions Curator

Yesomi Umolu is Artistic Director of the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial and Exhibitions Curator at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago. She is also a lecturer in the University of Chicago’s humanities division. Specializing in global contemporary art and spatial practices, Umolu has presented exhibitions, commissions and public programs by Ibrahim Mahama, Otobong Nkanga, John Akomfrah, Ursula Biemann and Paulo Tavares, Mithu Sen, Karen Mirza and Brad Butler, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Minouk Lim, Sharon Hayes, and Eyal Weizman, among others. Her writing has appeared in numerous catalogs and journals, including Art in America, Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism and the Studio Museum in Harlem’s Studio magazine.

Umolu received an MA with honors in Architectural Design from the University of Edinburgh and an MA with Distinction in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London. She is a 2016 recipient of an Andy Warhol Foundation Curatorial Fellowship.


Katja Rivera

Assistant Curator

Katja Rivera is Assistant Curator at Logan Center Exhibitions. She has held research and curatorial positions in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University. Most recently, she co-curated the exhibition Traduttore, Traditore at Gallery 400, which explored translation beyond it linguistic meaning. Rivera is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where her research focusses on the work of Mexican conceptual artist and mail art pioneer Felipe Ehrenberg.

Alyssa Brubaker

Exhibitions Coordinator

Alyssa Brubaker is the Exhibitions Coordinator at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago where she supports the curator in planning exhibitions and programming. Prior to joining the team at the Logan, Brubaker was the Membership Program & Education Coordinator at the International Sculpture Center (ISC) where she led two award programs that recognized outstanding students and educators making an impact in the realm of contemporary sculpture, as well as helped to inaugurate the ISC's first International Sculpture Day. In addition to her role at the Logan Center, Brubaker is a Graphic Designer working with local art non-profits, and enjoys spearheading curatorial projects in her free time. She recently curated Design is a Verb at the Evanston Art Center. Brubaker has a B.F.A in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.

Marcus Warren

Shop Coordinator and Exhibitions Preparator

Marcus is the Shop Coordinator and Exhibitions Preparator where he assists the exhibitions team with prepping the gallery, coordinating shipping and installing exhibitions in the Logan Center Gallery. 

Marcus Warren graduated with a BFA in Sculpture in 2006 from The University of Illinois Champaign Urbana.  He worked for seven years as a professional picture framer, and one year as a Gallery assistant at the Roy Boyd art Gallery in Chicago IL. Marcus is a sculpture artist whose work deals with themes of race and pop culture, and consists of a variety of mediums including photography, wood work, and painting.  He has had work in the shows ConglomerNation at the Springer Cultural Center in Champaign IL, and Other Heroes at Jackson State University.
