This program has two goals:
-
Support a socially-engaged cultural leader from Chicago looking to partner with practitioners in the UK.
A socially-engaged cultural leader is defined as an artist, arts or cultural manager, curator, cultural educator, creative presenter, social entrepreneur or community activist who addresses contemporary social issues through the lens of arts and culture.
-
Encourage institutional collaborations and partnerships in the UK and the US.
The applicant’s proposed exchange will provide or engender cross-cultural ideas, practices, stories or collaborative possibilities. Priority is given to proposals with clearly planned exchanges with identified UK-based artists and/or organizations, and plans for enhancing opportunities for leadership development, professional networking and exchange of ideas. British Council can provide recommended contacts and make introductions as needed.
Note: The grant will be disbursed directly to the fellow, who is responsible for travel insurance, taxes, flights, accommodation, transport, and local arrangements.
The Fellow is expected to communicate widely about their residency experience to their peers, their field and their home communities, including sharing on social media.
