This year, the Logan Center Bluesfest broadens its reach, transitioning to a hybrid model with a comprehensive series of intimate concerts, conversations, and special events in which select programming is offered in-person, and all programming is live-streamed for free to audiences around the world.
The 2021 festival follows the thread of Blues music from its earliest expressions to its most contemporary. The festival brings together the progeny of Chicago Blues legends in Daughters and Sons of the Blues, celebrates intergenerational relationships between artists separated chronologically by six decades but glued together by the songs of their forebears, and explores the many branches of the Blues tree from the roots to the fruits. Other events include our first commission of original blues music, a photography exhibition, book signings, interviews, and conversations honoring the history of the blues on the South Side and beyond.
