The University of Chicago Division of the Humanities returns with Humanities Day on Saturday, October 17, 2020. This year, the event is a fully digital 40th year anniversary celebration of the power of art, literature, philosophy, music, linguistics, and languages.
Each year Humanities Day presents the public with a snap-shot of leading humanities research from whether art has rules to how to reinvent democracy for the 21st century to ways in which to re-imagine communities, and much more.
Keynote presenter Martha C. Nussbaum examines a wholly new ethical and legal approach to protect diverse animals from mistreatment, poaching, and the devastation of their natural habitat through climate change in “Animals: Expanding the Humanities.”
Free and open to the public. Full schedule and registration at: https://humanitiesday.uchicago.edu/
