Bring archaeology into your classroom! In this four-week self-paced online workshop, teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, archaeologists, museum educators, and members of the Project Archaeology network are invited to explore the past through archaeological sites and discover the connections between food diversity and human health. Learn cross-curricular, inquiry-based methods for teaching social studies, science, and health enhancement. Practice new ideas for hands-on and virtual classroom activities that guide students through the shift from hunting and gathering to the development of agriculture in the ancient world. Engage your students in archaeology as they apply the tools of scientific inquiry to the investigation of nutrition. Workshop participants will receive instruction for seven Common Core-aligned units from the Project Archaeology: Investigating Nutrition curriculum while supplementing their learning with OI Museum archaeological resources and discussions with OI experts. Curriculum guidebook included. Educators will receive a hard copy of Investigating Nutrition as part of the course material, and 30 professional development hours for participation.
