Title--Nikkei South Side: Japanese and Japanese Americans in Hyde Park and its Vicinity
Chicago’s South Side has long-standing but little-known relationships with Japan. Beginning in 1893, when the Japanese Garden in Jackson Park was founded and the University of Chicago conferred its first doctoral degree upon the Japanese student Eiji Asada, this exhibition traces the history of Japanese and Japanese Americans in Hyde Park.
Exhibition Gallery hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30-4:30 p.m., closed December 24, 2021 through January 2, 2022 and January 17, 2022.
