We open the spring quarter at Rockefeller Chapel with a three-week showing of "Columns of Thought" by Audrius V. Plioplys, MD'75: a series of light sculptures 65 inches tall, each incorporating multiple layers of assemblage and representing a writer or artist whose influence has shaped Plioplys' life and work, including Hieronymus Bosch, Samuel Beckett, Franz Kafka, and Sigmund Freud. Free.
"Audrius Plioplys is a neurologist and neuroscientist who also happens to be a shrewd artist... he has been involved with some of the strongest contemporary currents—abstract painting, conceptual art, temporary installations, photography—drawing upon the content of one profession to feed the other." Alan G. Artner, Chicago Tribune.
Presented in conjunction with the Center for Cognitive and Social Neuroscience at The University of Chicago.
