2018-2019 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Music Composition

The recently established Center for Contemporary Composition in the Department of Music within the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable Postdoctoral Fellowship in Music Composition, beginning Autumn 2018. This singular opportunity will allow a composer in the early stages of his or her career to gain unprecedented exposure and intellectual engagement in the dynamic setting of the University of Chicago’s prestigious music composition program.

The Postdoctoral Fellow in Music Composition will teach a course in the University’s undergraduate Core Curriculum, teach private composition lessons to undergraduate composers, and participate in the University, Department and Center’s workshops, seminars, and colloquia. The Fellow Scholar will be given space, time, and resources to develop new works for performance by the Center’s professional ensembles-in-residence. The Fellow Scholar will receive competitive salary, and a research, travel, and equipment allowance. The effective date for this appointment will be September 1, 2018.
