We find ourselves in uncertain times. The rapidly evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19 are having an unprecedented impact on the arts sector. Artists and arts organizations have been especially hard hit by the necessary safety precautions most cities and communities have adopted to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Performances, events, and festivals across the county have been cancelled. Dancers, singers, and actors are experiencing lost work and income. Museums and theatres have closed. Teaching artists, if they can, have had to quickly modify curriculum to create online learning opportunities for their students. As people adjust to new restrictions and the difficult realities caused by COVID-19, it is artists and art that have helped sustain a sense of familiarity and hope. Arts and entertainment are providing connection and joy so deeply needed as the world faces extraordinary new challenges.

Arts + Public Life (APL) is taking immediate steps to provide resources for artists and revamped programming for the communities who count on us for quality arts engagement. We invite you to continue to check this website and our social media (@artspubliclife) for updated information as we post relevant articles and relief resources for artists and creative entrepreneurs. APL is revamping our programming so that we can offer several ways for you to remain connected and engaged over the next few months.

Building community through shared art experiences is the heart of APL’s mission, and our staff is quickly determining ways to shift to virtual methods and platforms for select programs so that our artist-led programming and exhibitions, artist residencies, arts education, and creative entrepreneurship support can continue in new forms until we can come back together to share space at the Arts Incubator, Green Line Performing Arts Center and the new L1 Creative Business Accelerator. We thank you for your support and encourage everyone to stay safe, healthy and inspired.
