Proposal Guidelines

The UChicago Arts Grants support original ideas from faculty and staff for the creation and presentation of projects in the arts. We are particularly interested in funding projects that create opportunities for collaboration between the arts and other disciplines.

Proposals are accepted only from University faculty or full-time academic appointees, and from University-affiliated organizations, units, and individuals on campus (e.g. University staff members submitting on behalf of a campus entity). Students seeking support should inquire about the Student Creativity Grants or Student Fine Arts Fund.

UChicago Arts Grants provide seed funding for new artistic ventures and should not be considered a source of continued funding. A request for renewed support of a project previously supported via a UChicago Arts Grant is unlikely to be successful unless the proposal introduces a significant change or addition to the project. Grant requests can range between $1,500 and $5,000.

Applications are reviewed quarterly. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals one or two quarters in advance of any publication, presentation, or performance date. Events occurring shortly after the notification date may be disqualified from consideration.

Applications now closed for the 2016-17 year.

Please check back in late summer for the 2017-18 deadlines.
