Funding Opportunities

The Arts Council fosters the creation and presentation of arts across the University through both direct grant opportunities and independent initiatives. Its goal is to make the arts part of the life of every member of the campus community.

Since its establishment in 2001, the Council has provided more than half a million dollars in support for campus arts activities through five grant programs. Funded projects have ranged from hip-hop performances to literary journals, film festivals to puppetry workshops, and summer fellowships to new course development.

Three of the Council’s grant programs encourage arts activities on campus and the enrichment of the University community’s cultural life:

UChicagoArts Grants
For substantial, collaborative, public projects requesting funding between $1,500 and $7,500
Student Fine Arts Fund
For small projects of RSOs or individual students requesting funding of less than $1,500
Arts Council Summer Fellowships
Awards of $1,500 for individual student summer projects

In addition, the Council provides resources for enhanced use of the arts in the classroom:

Curricular Innovation Grants
Grants from $1,000 to $3,500 intended for the development, enhancement, or renewal of arts courses
Course Arts Resource Fund
Grants of up to $500 for the integration of arts into courses
