Late-Night Storytelling with Catcher in the Rhyme. In honor of Let's Get Working: Chicago Celebrates Stud's Terkel, UChicago's slam poetry student group, Catcher in the Rhyme, hosted a showcase of narrative performances in a radio show format. In the spirit of Studs Terkel, Catcher members interviewed all performers after their programs. Performers included poets from Catcher in the Rhyme, students from Memoryhouse, and other dancers, musicians, and artists--both from the student body and the broader city of Chicago--whose work focuses on narrative construction through various media.
RED LIGHT with UChicago Sex Week. On Valentine's Day 2014, Logan Cabaret featured live performances and visual art full of innuendo, humor and verve. Selected by the organizers of by UChicago Sex Week, the line-up included Jezebel À Gogo, Anais Ahmed & Daniel Rothblatt, Jessica Covil & Robert Eric Shoemaker, Elizabeth Adetiba, Nina Kate, Mark Bouchard, Shawnteal, and visual art by Nicole Cherry.
Inside the Artist's Studio with Festival of the Arts. Logan Cabaret and and Festival of the Arts invited audiences to explore the creative inner-workings of seven eclectic student artists. From stand-up comedy to dance, students traversed the boundaries of stage and studio by delivering informal presentations about their creative practices. Featuring talks and performances by Breanne Johnson, Chris D'Angelo, Dvorak Chamber Orchestra, Mark Hassenfratz, Mari Cohen, Shawnteal Peery and Will Davis.
Comedy Night with Occam's Razor. Organized by UChicago's improv group Occam's Razor, this evening of original sketch comedy featured performances by Dan Brier, Paul Goodrich, Ahdeeb Ghazali, Willie Calvin, Kiko Wemmer, Haley Johnson, Erin Goodrich, Sam Taylor, Josh Trubowitz, Jackson Lind-Lebuffe, Chris Deakin, Sam Karas, Morgan Pantuck and Occam’s Razor.
