Transportation & Parking

Public Transportation
Metra Train. Take the Metra from the Downtown Millenium Station hub at Randolf and Michigan to the 55th-56th-57th or 59th/University stop. Fares are around 3 dollars. See metrarail.com for details and other options. (Metra Electric District line)
CTA (Chicago Transit Authority). Take the 2, 6, X28 bus from Downtown State Street south toward 55th and Hyde Park; or, take the Red Line train toward the Garfield/55th stop. Fares are $2.25 per ride. See transitchicago.com for details.
Driving and Parking
Hyde Park is on a grid system, with numbered streets running East to West. Northern streets have smaller numbers than southern streets. Many are one-way streets.
Street parking is available all around campus, but the preferred visitors garages are located at 55th Street & Ellis Avenue and Drexel Avenue & 61st Street. The parking lot located at 60th Street & Drexel Avenue is free after 4 pm and on weekends. Please
Parking at 55th Street and Ellis Avenue ranges from $4 for an hour, to $20 for 4+ hours; however, parking is a flat $4 for parking after 4 pm and on weekends. Parking at Drexel Avenue and 61st street is limited to monthly permit holders only between 5 am and 9 am.

Biking
Bicycle racks can be found at various locations on campus. All CTA buses are equipped with bike racks, and Metra allows bikes on trains with some limitations.
The Bike Center at 53rd Street & Lakepark allows for rentals, repairs, bike parking, as well as showers and lockers. You can find more information about bike tours and rentals on the Explore Chicago website.
