FIRST PERSON TRANS: Artist Talk and Screening with CHASE JOYNT
FIRST PERSON TRANS
Artist Talk and Screening with CHASE JOYNT
Through a presentation of his newest film work, alongside projects by other trans and gender non-conforming media makers, Toronto-based media artist Chase Joynt challenges us to engage with how stories about gender non-conforming people are told. How does the artistic production of moving images potentially subvert institutional trans narratives, such as those generated by medicine and broader media? What does it mean for trans and genderqueer identified artists to be resisting traditional media forms in an attempt to tell their own stories? FIRST PERSON TRANS engages with various autobiographic and personal narrative story-telling techniques as a way in which to destabilize, unpack and reorder various perceived (trans) gendered truths.
